Looking for a job? Prepare properly and stand out.

At the start of the winter season, it has been observed that most job vacancies are published, as companies reorganize and search for suitable candidates. The positions, more demanding than ever, require individuals with a multifaceted personality, knowledge, and skills.

First and foremost, make sure you have a comprehensive resume that has the potential to stand out and convey your qualifications and achievements. Ensure you are informed so that you can send your resume within the timeframe specified in the job posting that interests you.

However, start preparing for the interview immediately, taking responsibility for how you will pursue a position, with proper preparation and practice to express your uniqueness, stand out from the crowd, and secure the position.

The duties, roles, and requirements of many job positions have changed or increased. Therefore, the first step you need to take is to clarify your own “wants” and what exactly you expect from the job you are seeking. Prioritize your preferences and then identify the common elements of your qualifications and personality that arise from the job description. Make sure you understand the needs of the position and the overall work activities of the company.

Self-awareness
Take time for yourself by analyzing your strengths and weaknesses. Talk to friends who can constructively contribute by mentioning characteristics of your personality. Write everything down on paper and next to the positives, note how you developed them and how they contribute to your effectiveness, while next to the negatives, note ways for improvement. In front of a mirror, answer the question “Tell us a little about yourself,” and immediately give feedback to yourself on how you felt, the vocabulary and flow of your speech, body language, tone, and sound of your voice. Repeat the same with the questions you expect to be asked in the interview.

Preparation for the position and the company
Research the company, the field it specializes in, its culture, and history, and review the job description again (especially if it has been a while since you submitted your resume). This information will provide you with material for your answers and will show during the discussion how well you have prepared, which usually translates to interest and professionalism! Also, research the sector the company operates in, the salary range, and the prevailing market conditions related to the field.

Talk about your skills
87% of employers agree that the right skills in a candidate play a crucial role in the progression of their evaluation process. Avoid statements like “I have very good time management and organizational skills.” Instead, argue with real experiences and facts you have lived, what you are capable of doing, and how you operate in your work environment. Think about these stories in advance so you can tell them effectively. (After all, you have already spent time on the characteristics of your personality and developing your self-awareness!)

Don’t forget to ask questions during the interview as well. You certainly want to be in a good environment, know your duties, or even the person you will be reporting to.Remember that in an interview you will be evaluated based on the needs of the position, but at the same time, you will also assess how well the position and the company align with your own values and needs.
